Thanks to Chip and Joanna Gaines, the city of Waco has been presented for what it really ought to be known for--a mid-sized Texas town that is a great place to raise your family, an easy place to find a cool, well-priced property to renovate, and a home to several wonderful colleges, great local restaurants, and cool antique finds. We have loved watching the nation respond with delight towards Jo's creativity and Chip's funny antics on their HGTV show. The couple really knows how to do great work, and enjoy themselves and their family while doing it.
In one of her early blog posts about home design, Joanna revealed one of her secrets to home design is that she always tries to design with a sense of purpose; good design is all about making beautiful spaces that work for your family, not a "museum of untouchables." She writes, "itβs amazing what can happen to a place when you realize what its purpose is for."
That's the same heart that we bring to creating videos. When we considered why Chip and Jo's staff would want to bring us in to create a celebration film for Chip and Jo, we knew that capturing the story of their journey and their personal inspiration would be key to making this film truly reflect the joy of the Silobration. See, Jo had always loved this particular lot in Waco since she was a young woman, and she had always wondered what it could look like if it were restored. She had to overcome some obstacles over the course of starting her business, and Chip was one of her greatest encouragers along that journey. So, in that way, the party at the Silobration was not just about getting to see her business at Magnolia Market grow into a much larger building--it was a celebration of the joy she and Chip have experienced as they support one another along the way.
These are the stories we love to tell.
They asked the crowd, "Are you ready to see our fixer upper?"
Ben Ranzinger from Rabenwolf Entertainment joined us to film some gorgeous aerials of the party. It was truly one of our favorite ways to showcase the sheer scope of the renovation that Chip and Joanna undertook with this project.
Johnnyswim performed at the party both nights. Their song "Home" is the theme song for Fixer Upper, and their song "Diamonds" has been a big inspiration for the celebration of the Silos renovation. The song talks about diamonds rising from the dust, and things being reborn, full of fire and life. The band was kind enough to give us permission The crowds just loved their gorgeous harmonies and the creative rhythm of their songs. The second night of the party happened to be Halloween, and so Abner Ramirez came dressed up in a costume... just like Chip!
