New Orleans Wedding Video at St. Louis Cathedral - 2nd Line Parade

This past weekend, I documented Somesha and Olivier's New Orleans wedding.  Somesha and Olivier live in Paris, France, but Somesha is originally from New Orleans, so she came home for her wedding.

The guests were a mixture of local family, family and friends from across the country, and an international contingent from France.  There is no language barrier, though, when it comes to New Orleans cooking and jazz music. When the 2nd line band started to blow their horns, leading guests to the reception, the music gave everyone the spirit!

Travel tip - While in New Orleans, stay at the Melrose Mansion between now and Jazzfest and get a great deal!  Ask for a special price on the Miss Kitty room and you can have it for as little as $75/night.  You're two blocks from Bourbon Street and within walking distance of many fabulous restaurants.  I recommend Port of Call, right across the street.

Special thanks to local producer Chad Dyle for coming out to shoot some of the wedding video for me while I handled the super 8 wedding film and 16mm wedding film portions.  I couldn't have done it without ya!

Thank you Somesha and Olivier for bringing me in.  I had a blast.

New Orleans Wedding Video and Super 8 Wedding Film, 10 of 10

Just as we began, we end with Ian's toast.  Ian had a way of finding the right words for the right time, and you can see in the wedding video how engaged the guests were in the love that poured from his heart

This New Orleans wedding has made me high.

In the future - final thoughts and some photos from Stephen Karlisch.

New Orleans Super 8 Wedding Mother Son Dance

Trevor's heartfelt tribute to his mother at the rehearsal dinner was only matched in emotional intensity by their celebratory dancing at their New Orleans wedding reception.

The Jimmy Church Revue laid it down, taking no prisoners for a number of sets as the guests danced non-stop until 2 a.m.  The energy was likely to blow the roof off the tent had it continued much longer.  At first, I thought the neighbors might object to such a late night celebration, but then I remembered...

...this is New Orleans!

Apart from dancing, guests could choose to go outside the tent and have a fresh cigar rolled by the Cigar Factory of New Orleans or enjoy some handmade taffy from The Roman Candy Man, a New Orleans fixture for as long as most can remember.

Next Tuesday's New Orleans wedding video clip - the finale!

Super 8 Wedding First Dance in New Orleans

 [vimeo]https://vimeo.com/1335350[/vimeo]

CeCe and Trevor danced to Michael Buble's tune "Everything," performed by the Charlie Kohlmeyer band at their New Orleans wedding reception.

But the slow dancing didn't last long - this is New Orleans, mind you, and folks come out to party!

New Orleans Wedding Video - 2nd Line Parade

Oh When the Saints...

If you've every been to New Orleans, even if you didn't leave the hotel room, you were inundated with the purest jazz on the planet.

It's no surprise that this legacy makes its way into life's celebrations.  The tradition of having a 2nd line band that leads guests to the reception is one of the most exciting experiences of a New Orleans wedding.

The Storyville Stompers guided the guests from CeCe's mother's house into the tent across the way to reveal the jaw-dropping decor by event designers Van Wyck & Van Wyck and mouth-watering catering by Joel.

Tomorrow's wedding video segment - The first dance.
